What's with the name "Sticks" you ask? Well, if you can imagine a bloke standing 6'6' ( or 2 metres ) tall, its not surprising that Rob Dolan was given the nickname "Sticks" when playing Australian Rules football for Port Adelaide. It was at this time that Rob's passion for winemaking also took hold, learning and working alongside some of the country's leading winemakers and viticulturalists.
The Sticks Yarra Valley winery and vineyard is set on 80 acres, with 60 acres under vine. Initial plantings began in 1983 and include such varieties as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Viognier, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. This unique vineyard boasts five different trellising systems, all used to ensure the highest quality fruit and has produced many award winning wines.
